SOLD: Conn 74h

It pains me to sell this horn but I found a 79h that suits my needs better. I love this horn so much that I traded once and bought it back from the person I traded it to a year later. So I’ll probably regret selling this in a year.
Anyway, I’m selling a Conn 74h. It’s a straight medium bore with an 8.5” rose brass bell. The way I like to think about it is a 8h with a .522 slide. It has an “Artist” engraving in the bell.
I just had one of the slide tubes replaced because as my tech put it, the original tube looking like a “S.” The slide is a little scratchy, but so far with it lubed I’d call it 7/10. Not sure if I’ll be able to get it better with a little more love and lubrication. But there’s no plating loss on the tubes. There is some lacquer loss on the neck pipe (can be seen in photos).
Hoping to get $600 for it and buy pays shipping. Comes in an old gray and black Conn case.

Let me know if you want to see more photos. There aren’t many.
Update: it turns out the slide was dry and it just needed some more love (trombotine). I would rate the slide around 7.5 or 8/10, now and it's only the SLIGHTEST bit scratchy.
Will the slide fit an 8H/88H bell section?
Sadly, no.
I experimented with that a few years ago. I ended up using a 88H bell and had to change out the tenons. I ended up switching it back and selling the 88h. The 74H bell does fit a 78 or 79h slide though.

Bump.
I'm open to trades, but I'm really just looking for something like a 2B+. Looking for that 7.5" bell with a bigger bore slide. 2b+ would be ideal because then I could pair the bell and slide with my 3b equipment too. Open to offers though.

Played one of these many years ago and it was a really nice horn.
That was the only one I ever saw in 30 years so I'm guessing not that many made ??
Good luck with the sale
Slide handgrip looks like the 50H I had for a while.
I played the horn on a gig yesterday (4 hour wedding) and kept staring at the hand grip and bracing. The height between braces is bigger than I’m used to. It’s hard for me to hold the horn with one hand when the slide lock is not engaged. If that makes sense.
Also, I need to replace the neck pipe. It turned the neck of my shirt black. I’m not sure what’s going on with what’s there but I’m going to just replace it and go from there.
The horn is effortless to play and I absolutely love the differences from my 3b. I’m not upset that it hasn’t sold yet :-)

Even cheaper, buy one of the leather guards for the neckpipe. Griego and Leather Specialties makes them. There are also plastic ones available for even less, but they look tacky, and I would harte having plastic pressed up to my neck for a long gig.

Bump
As much as I'd love to keep the horn I just have too many, and I have other music things I want to purchase.

Bump + price reduction $600
Looking to get started on saving up for something else. Still in the market for a 2b+, but also might be selling off a few horns and making my way over to Greenhoe.

Haha, I do! I actually pulled it out today to play and teach. I'm going to be playing it the next week or 2 just to give it a spin again. Still a horn I enjoy playing.

These are nice playing horns, very lightweight and easy to play. I think they were just made in the early '80s, as far as I know. There's also a valved version, the 75h. It has the valve wrap that looks like the 50h or the 71h does.

Sold!
What'd you buy?
I picked up the King 2b+ that was listed yesterday. I've been wanting to add that to the arsenal to give me flexibility with my 3bs.
