Up for grabs is a 1975-1977 made Bach Corporation 42b. Serial number is 12XXX. This horn has a very nice, dark, broad sound. I have played it on numerous occasions, and it blends well with other brands, slots well, doesn’t have any of the funky intonation issues as modern day Bach’s. This. Is. A. Player.
The slide was completely rebuilt and sent to the slide Dr. It was professionally relacquered and looks new. No red rot, no corrosion, and I have some hand guards for it as well from Greigo.
The bell section is as is. No frills, Corporation stamp and resonates when you play. The rotor is ported (see comment section for that pic) and is extremely nice, quiet, and has good compression. I prefer the Corporation ball and socket linkage, and have left that in place. It’s quiet, and original to the horn.
The tubing has no dents or anything that would limit this horns capabilities. All original lacquer on the bell section and there are signs of repair, that should be in the pictures. Please take a look at the original post AND the comments for all pictures and full disclosure from me. I can ship this one with a ProTec case, or without.
Proceeds from this horn will be donated to the Ussher’s Syndrome Coalition. My son has Ussher’s Syndrome Type 2, and is 50% deaf and is slowly losing his vision. ALL proceeds will go to help fight this disease that has taken his sight and a lot of his hearing. Imagine being 18, and being unable to hear the music that we play. This horn is being sold to help my son and others like him.
