I purchased this Bach 42 (Open wrap, gold bell, light slide) in about 1992. It's in terrific shape with slight dings in the bell and some wear on the hand brace on the slide. (UPDATE: found a little dent in the end of the slide while I was taking photos. wonder when that got there!) Last year I had CIOMET replace the inner sleeve of the slide so that I could use removable leadpipes - it comes with a Mt Vernon leadpipe from brass Arc. They also replaced the old linkage with a miniball setup, although I don't think they placed it perfectly - it might be a bit cramped for someone with large hands. (It appears changing the single link would solve any issues). Slide is terrific - perfectly smooth and fast with slide-o-mix. Case is perfect on the inside but only good to fair shape on the outside - still perfect to protect the horn, but more scrapes and scuffs than you'd like to show off.
