I'd like to get $1200 for it.

Plays amazingly but I've gravitated back to my 3B and don't play this one much anymore.

Slide action is decent despite the wear on the stockings.

Side note: Has anyone seen an outerslide like this before? Dual bore with Rose upper, nickel crook, yellow lower?

Send me your questions!

Thanks

When it was introduced, the Recording had high-copper outer tubes (rose? red? gold? brass) and a nickel silver crook. The nickel silver outers came a long a few years later. I suspect your lower outer was replaced at some point. Whether it was done by choice or by necessity would be impossible to say.

Thanks John. The serial is 36583 which would put it around 1949, right? Is that the time frame for the red/rose outer tubes? I thought it was replaced initially, but the flare below the handslide braces matches the other tube perfectly, and looks like a factory job. https://bit.ly/3Rxo2Rh

Possibly replaced by the factory? I appreciate your expert insight.

‘49 is about right for the rose brass tubes.

I was trying to avoid say saying this, but you’re getting too specific for me to side-step it: I think it’s an A-20 Ambassador lower outer tube. Same size as a Recording, including the drawn-in “stocking”, in yellow brass. They were probably faced with the choice of yellow brass or nickel silver, and yellow brass would be closer to the original.
