Hi everyone!

I’m new here and I’m looking for a Conn 6H case for my 1952 Conn 6H. If anyone has a lead on one, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much!

Warmest regards,

- Jim

And just because I’m sure you’re going to ask: I’m hesitant to purchase anything else than an original case because all of my other horns have cases that are original. If I purchased a different case, it would probably be a custom case for all 4 of my horns. Hope this helps!

Welcome to TC. I don’t see that many 6H cases go by, anywhere. If the owner wasn’t very careful with a 6H case, the case shows it quickly. But they do exist. Good luck.

I have a vintage conn case, but not sure if it was for a 6h. I will email you photos later today. When I got the case, it had a vintage 2b in it, so there is some evidence of slight modification for the curved bell brace.

I have one, but it is need of a restoration. Most likely it will need to be re-covered and re-lined, but of course then it will no longer be an original 6H case. It is grey tweed with a royal blue lining. (I think the 50's had a light blue lining)

I also have an 8H/88H/79H case in good condition, it is black with a royal blue lining. Probably not what you're looking for, but it is for sale.

I have a vintage Conn case that currently holds my 74h. Made some time in the late 70s, early 80s I think. I wouldn't mind parting with it if you're interested. But it might be a little bigger than you're looking for, since the 74h has a 8.5" bell. Not sure if the 6h cases were thinner.

I can get more pictures for your too, if interested.

The "Wedgie" case JLivi shows was used for all Conns from the 100H (successor to the 6H) to the 88H in the 1970s and 1980s. There may have been variants in the block put on the inside to hold the bell section in place, but I had one that came with something that looked like a Director and it fit an 88H just fine. It is a bit larger (and probably heavier) than the one mamaposaune shows.

I converted one of these cases (that had an 88H) to fit my 48H. To me it seems like the old coffin cases from the late 50s on up were built with wiggle room. I had an 8H in the case that came with my first 6H.

Jim, O.P., did you see D.J. Kennedy's ad under "instruments" - 6H utility cases for $25?
