Just got a really nice N series 62H with a hand-bent D slide... and a totally trashed bell. If you have anything sitting around, let me know.

Very pretty, until it isn't. Will you also be able to do a screw cut and salvage the original stem, or does the crunchy stuff reach too far north?

Actually... that might be an option. The cronch is well below the seam of the two piece bell. Very cool idea.

Aidan,

I think this bell is perfectly salvageable. John Sandhagen rolled out a Reynolds Contempora bell that was similarly crunched by USPS. The result: Cosmetically - not perfect, but not bad at all. Sonically - near perfect. Price - Sandhagen reasonable. Much less that a cut / screw bell.

Don't ever give up on an Elkhart Conn! :good:

If it were just the cronch, it would be salvageable- but the bell has already been cronched in a similar way, split, and brazed back together along a different fault line.

Trust me, I know he can do some magic! But he can't make the bell back into one uninterrupted piece again.
