I've got a budget of around 500. More if it's really awesome. I'd like to eventually by a Thein but until then something to start with. I'm looking at wessex, new horns are around 400. I just thought I'd just check here first. Anyone looking to unload?

I'll send you an email... with all sopranos, it takes practice to play in tune without sliding into the notes - the slide positions are so much closer, off by a small amount on your position and you'll really hear it. It seems to be pretty good workmanship.

I've got a Mirafone for sale, quite a bit higher on the $$ scale, but also a higher quality horn...

I think the Kanstul soprano/slide cornet is very good. If I remember correctly the modelnr was 150. They also made a slide trumpet modelnr 140. From what I've read on one of the Moravian websites they recommended the Kanstul. I bought one of the first maybe some kind of experiment or prototype. I bought it from Thomann and the Kanstul company could not tell me when it was made later when I asked them to date my trombone. They said they had no record of such a soprano with such low serial number, and my trombone is in brass, the later ones is cupper. I think it is a great soprano, just need more practice. It is not for sale.

I think Jim Nova uses a Kanstul soprano, right? Or am I mixing that up with the contra?

Yeah the Konstul's look gorgeous. But i'd prefer a used over new.

Kanstul instruments are unlikely to be "new." The business closed in 2019. Any Kanstul you buy now is surely "used."
