Here’s a chance to be a custodian of a rare and unusual horn.
<ATTACHMENT filename="7B118B2B-BB5B-468F-A57B-0FC1FC63D6BC.jpeg" index="1">[attachment=1]7B118B2B-BB5B-468F-A57B-0FC1FC63D6BC.jpeg</ATTACHMENT>
It has no Conn markings on it at all, only Minick so to the very best of my knowledge it is a Minick horn, not a Conn 100h. It has an unusual curved hand brace on the slide and a nice curve on the end of the main bell brace.

It has an 8” bell, rose brass (as far as I can tell, the bell is noticeably redder than what appear to be the yellow brass parts of the horn).
The slide is lightweight with brass (no oversleeves) in yellow brass with three push-fit leadpipes and what looks to be a nickel silver crook. The dimensions of the slide are very similar to a 6H and the tenon/screw fit perfectly on my Elkhart 6H (and most likely any other small bore Conn slide other than very early ones).
The tuning slide moves fine, there are some mute dings on the bell and some patches of lacquer wear in general.
The bad news is that there are some signs of what could be red rot at the crook end of the upper and lower outer slide. If it is red rot, it hasn’t got any worse in the past couple of years, isn’t through yet and may well last for years? There’s another few spots on the gooseneck with a similar discolouration. I’ve thought about having the outer slide replaced but prefer to keep it as it until it would become unplayable, even then I may keep the original outer slide for historical preservation and either get a carbon fibre one or something based on a 6H, or indeed an entire 6H slide which I’d then get adapted to take the Minick leadpipes.
The slide isn’t the smoothest or fastest, the inners don’t have any patches which are visibly worn through but it would benefit from an alignment to get the best out of it.
It plays just amazingly smooth and has the most open and effortless upper range of any small bore I’ve ever tried. The mid-range is rich and dark, nonetheless with very fast response. In my opinion it would make an awesome horn for jazz combo mic playing, which I sadly don’t do much of.
I‘m looking for xxxx€ + insured shipping for it. I‘m based in Germany.
Any questions, just send me a pm (I prefer pm over Email). More photos available by request.

Pretty darn sure that curved hand brace is an original part/design.

I have a Minick 100H from the early 80's.
Lightweight slide, curved handgrip and has a serial number of: GE97006.
It's in great shape, no lacquer on the bell and sounds lovely. But after 40+ yrs, I'm ready to let it go. Any idea of what it is worth????
