I'm considering the possibility of getting a brass bell for my Butler C10 with an Instrument Inovations valve. How possible would it be to fit, for example, a Shires bell on to the existing valve and tuning slide?

You will need brace studs with flanges compatible with your valve section. My money is on it being instrument innovations threads, in which case you can purchase those directly from instrument innovations. Then, pay a good repairman to make some nickel flanges and mount them to the brass bell using the valve section as the template. It's not a complicated repair-just time consuming.
