This has been my daily driver for a few years now and started out in life as a Bach 50B2O I purchased from Jim Berman. I ordered the carbon outer slide from Dave Butler and was so knocked out by it that I got a bell a few weeks later. Carbon fiber is so strong you can say goodbye to slide and bell dents! Dave Butler is currently quoting a year for new orders for basses made in his shop. If you've been wanting a CF bass, you can buy this one and have it in a short timeframe. Plus, new Butler basses are $7,200 plus shipping.
It plays really nice! It weighs in around 3.9 lbs total and is the perfect bass trombone for someone who might be struggling with holding a bass for longer periods of time without hand, wrist or shoulder fatigue. When I had a gold brass bell and standard brass outer slide I had a Greenhoe "Rest Bar" installed, but after the carbon fiber conversion it's been removed because it's no longer necessary.
I've recorded myself many times with this horn and it has a very even sound throughout the range from top to bottom. It has a removable press fit leadpipe and the one that has worked the best for me is an M/K Drawing and Bending 50 copy in nickel-silver. A ProTec bass case comes with it but if you don't want it the price can be adjusted down for horn only. The valves are pitched in F and D, and the F tuning crook has been replaced with a radius bend instead of the more square Bach factory crook, makes for better response on low C and B natural.
Price Reduced to $3700 with additional (original) brass outer slide & case, shipped CONUS.

If I hadn’t just picked up a C12, I’d be very interested. These CF horns play great, and the weight reduction is amazing. Someone is going to get a fantastic deal on this.

FYI, I find that a Sauer Brace at the crook is a good add on to the Butler bass slide.

Funny that you should mention that. I tried a Sauer Brace on a Conn 62H where it was SPECTACULAR ! On my King Duo Gravis it was useless as well on my King 8B. On my Butler C-12 it distorted the slide so much that the slide would bind to the point of uselessness. I guess that this is a case of "Your Mileage May Vary" [YMMV] ?

With a Sauer Brace on a Butler CF slide it's important to not over tighten it, but just enough to make good contact and not fall off.

I like the Sauer brace on my brass instruments. I also found that over-tightening the brace can distort the CF slide outers. It is probably worth noting that Butler now makes a CF version of the Sauer brace that they can install. It is sized to fit the slide and permanently installed - no turnbuckle to (over-)tighten. You can see an example at the bottom of the “New” page on their site:

Appreciate the kudos! Seems like more folks are interested in buying the Butler stuff as separate components. I've been asked by a couple of list members if I'd do that. It's a shame because the whole horn plays so well but I do need to recoup since I've made a couple of very large purchases recently.

I personally hate having to part out a horn to sell… that said, I love to pick up pieces that I need/want.

If folks are requesting that you part it out then have them pay a premium for the hard to get items. People have asked me to part out in the past but want to get a bargain too. No.
