This Kanstul 1588 was custom built for Stan Kenton alumni Tommy Bridges. It's a .547" bore double valve stacked trombone. Look closely at the photos and you can see that it was set up for Tommy's hand size. The F trigger paddle is further back and the D trigger paddle is shorter than most. The finger ring makes it easier to hold as well. It is functional as is and I played it for a while yesterday and I would say my hand is average size.

I bought this as a part of Rick Bartkus' collection and Rick's widow and I had hoped that it could be reunited with it's original owner but it's just not possible. It's tough for me to sell it because Tommy probably will never be able to play it again.

At first I thought I would have new triggers made but I decided to sell it at a lower price "as is" so the new owner can have it set up the way they want it. It's a really neat horn.

The Kanstul stock 1588 is a Conn 88H copy with a CR (Controlled Resistance) valve. With F and D triggers this makes playing low C and B natural possible. It can be played in a big band or a classical orchestra where a smaller sound is called for. Because it's easier to fill than a larger bore bass it might even be a good double for an occasional gig or a younger player.

Price is $2300 including ProTec case and shipping CONUS. Please e-mail any questions.

Thanks!
