Up for sale is a custom built bass assembled from the corpse of a King 6B/DG a couple years ago. It is unlacquered and has a nice patina. Played this bad boy for about 5 years until I got my current daily driver. asking $3900 buyer ships...

Highlights include:
  • screw bell conversion

  • custom counterweight on the main tuning slide

  • independent Instrument Innovations Axial valves in F(.562) and Gb(.595)

  • removable threaded leadpipe with 3 pipes(VB Corp 50, MK George Roberts nickel, Getzen/Edwards 1?)

  • custom built flat case made for the horn.

I’ll add some pictures later this weekend. Any interest message or email me

When I saw Aidens response I had to see this thing!

Holy crap…that’s a fantastic looking horn.

Well done on ALL of the custom touches

Yup! It’s what I built and played after I sold you that Yamaha/Conn 72h hybrid.

Who did that counterweight? Very well executed.

I did, via sendcutsend, adobe illustrator and careful measurements.

Really, y’all are making me blush.

I really like my 88HCL (now that I've had the valve bumpers replaced). The valve is great - smooth action, short throw.

How do the CL valves work on a bass trombone? Are they larger than the tenor version?

Kudos to your King 6B customization. Very impressive!

I’ve compared (by eye) my 62HCL and another players 88HCL and the radius of the rotor assemblies seems about the same. That said, DAT THROW THO! <chefs kiss>

Question

Is the King 6B icon always on the inside of the bell flare?

Or did you put it there?

Either way - I have not seen that before and it’s a cool touch!

Hey everybody! I pulled the horn’s listing early-I’ve had more local interest pop out of the foggy PNW. To those that were waiting to bid at the end, I apologize. I’ve got some people coming over to toot on this baby and if no one leaves with it I’ll relist it. Thanks.

I had to look this up. PNW is "Pacific NorthWest."

Greetings from the sunny "OC."
