Looking for a horn that will fit well with Big Bands and this seems like it would fit the bill very well.

Is there a bass trombone that won’t fit well with big bands?
I had a 1052 for a while. Nice horn. Good for everything.

Yes - one o' them fancy German orchestral basses that cost $8,000+ :horror: -- worth much more than the total value of all the other trombones in any of my big bands, and guaranteed to make the trombone section jealous and the bass trombonist not feel welcome!

This will be a replacement for my Holton 180 dependent valve horn. The Holton lets me fit right in with my section. But I really like the options offered with an independent valve set.
Does my old Rath R9 fit in right now? Yes, and it's wonderful in an orchestral setting. But I work a lot harder to match with the other guys in the section and also be heard (yeah if everyone in the band played the dynamics (dynamics, is that some sports drink?) the Rath would be fine. But that's not going to happen!
