Have you ever seen a NY Bach 42B?
Was this trombone made in the NY era?
Do you have any picture?
Thanks!

I haven’t even seen any with the wider early Mt Vernon style engraving. There are NY 40s and 36s, but I haven’t seen any 42s.

The 42 wasn’t made before 1955, I believe the first one was made for Robert Lambert of the Chicago Symphony, Vincent Bach wanted Lambert to play one of his horns, but Lambert wanted a large bore like an 88H; initially Bach was reluctant to make a large bore Trombone, he thought the 36 was the perfect orchestral horn, but eventually he relented and the 42 was born.

Thanks for the history, chromebone.
I'd heard a similar story before.
