What is Getzen thinking with their cheesy bell engraving?

Maybe it’s just me, but I miss their old-style, 1970’s, simple, elegant, minimalist approach to branding their horns.

Simple would be OK for everything but “Getzen”; keep the fancy font for that. It’s a callback to the earlier days of the company.

I would guess that the early markings are roll-stamped, while the current ones are laser engraved. Even if they used the old style markings, they would look like the laser engraved ones, and would lack the crispness of the stamping. I have an older bach 42T, and a new 36 and 42, and the laser engraved bells are much harder to read. They also lack that slight deformation from the model number stamp, which I always thought was cool.

Here's my Eterna bass engraving. It's pretty faint. I think it falls in between the old stamping vs laser engraved cheesiness of that particular 3047. I do like the fancy Getzen on it though.

For contrast, the 6H and it's floral etching and marching men stamp...

...as well as the simple-yet-fancy-at-the-same-time stamp on the 168:

Nice additions to the thread. Thanks

I agree, your Eterna stamping looks great!
