Hey, friends! I currently have an Altieri TB case, and it works wonderfully for every situation I need, except fitting it in an overhead. It can fit in most of the bigger airlines, but it gets a LOT of trouble from gate attendants, and as I start doubling more out of my area, I'm unfortunately running into this situation more than I would like. I'm hoping to get something smaller that can still fit a tenor and a bass. Any leads out there?

The only hard case I can think of is the Bonna, which will fit in some larger overheads.

Altieri is more of a gig bag than a case. The slide(s) go in a rigid foam box while the bell(s) are in a well padded bag. I have a double set up for alto and tenor.

You might want to look into the Reunion Blues double bag. Also check with Chat member Greenbean about his bags. He's currently out of production but he may have something laying around.

I have a Cronkhite double bag that's definitely smaller than an Altieri. I took it on a plane years ago, but I wouldn't attempt it now. If I really needed to fly with a tenor and a bass I'd probably invest in a Marcus Bonna and pack it very well in case I need to gate check it.

One idea I’ve used successfully is putting my RB double case in a hard plastic, well packed golf case and checking it. Not for everyone’s nerves, but it’s served me well.

Marcus Bonna would be the best bet, that or a tank case and checking it
