Hi! Has anyone ever tried pull out leadpipe from Bach 42 Slide and put on other leadpipes like Edwards, or Shires? If yes, have you noticed improvements in the sound or playing? Thanks for your answers!

I actually have a Corp. leadpipe in an Edwards slide that I’m currently selling on a full setup.
I tried it out a few times and to me it’s a little less clear than if an actual Edwards leadpipe were in it, but has the qualities of an old Bach. Still a great sound and I never got the opportunity to get used to it so maybe it does work really nice after you get the hang of the feel.
So to clarify:
Little less clear (on Articulation and Tonguing) but still a very broad sound.

Whether changing the leadpipe would be an "improvement" depends entirely on what you are looking for in a horn. Plenty of people have had the leadpipes from their horns removed, and Bach has had the option of interchangeable leadpipes before. However pulling the leadpipe from a 42 can be a little "fun" due to how they are installed at the factory.
