I know Edwards slides will fit snugly on a Bach trombone, but will Shires?

Generally, no. The threads and taper are just a liiiiiittle bit different. I've had some Shires slides fit with no issues, but these days I have the Shires tenon swapped out for an Edwards to be 100% secure. I've had this done to both my B62/78 and TB47.

Before I had the bass slide modified, I had a bell section flop over in the middle of an audition and basically ruin it for me. That was the deciding point.
