Hi all,

I’m happy to keep this bell section in my collection, but since I find myself using it less for my freelance work thought I would gauge interest.

Commissioned this bell section to use for Newport Folk Festival 2021 as the world began opening up again (before delta, then omicron) at a time when J. Landress Brass had begun to make custom trombones again. While they still do custom work, this period of creative and well playing design appears to have passed as freelancers are back in the shop again with their usual repair and rebuild needs. This bell was spun by Josh Landress himself and the section assembled by Kevin Gillins, their former trombone guru, who no longer works there.

Bell is 8.5 nickel silver, soldered rim, Bach style. Josh made 2 of these bell flares. Both, as I was told, were originally for Andre Hayward.

Has an Olsen valve with wooden paddle. Tuning slide is from a pre WWII Conn Symphony model. F tubing from an old bass instrument crook. Valve plays wonderfully! the best f attachment in my collection.

Decorated with waves and an object soaring out of the water, using parts from an Olds TIS mechanism. No lacquer, satin finish.

Gorgeous bell. Plays dark but with tremendous projection. Does not break up whatsoever. Would not recommend it for orchestral work, but for a large bore trombonist or bass trombonist looking for a big horn (w smaller bore slide) to play commercial music or horn section work with this would be the ticket. May also interest those curious about equipment similar to that used in the UHOP style of playing.

It is currently configured to accept Bach 36 .525 slides, so a conversion would be needed to make it a true .547 horn.

This is a one of a kind bell section that won’t ever come around again.

Firmly asking for $2000 plus shipping to the continental US.

Potential trades I’m interested in:

Bach small bores Corp. or younger

Yamaha 897z

small bore conns (less than 8 inch bell)

(No kings please, not my flavor)

Inquire within for more pics, questions, etc. thanks!
