I play bass trombone in a San Francisco big band and sometimes need a sub for rehearsals. This is not a paying gig, suitable for amateur musicians with average skills. The benefit is a nice dinner served after rehearsal with good conversation. It's an opportunity to play and meet other interesting musicians. Rehearsals are usually Tuesdays at 5:30 in downtown SF.
