Has anyone ever added a valve to a Bach 16m?

I've heard of several examples of that setup. I don't know if it was done at the factory or not. Sounds like a sweet horn. I think I'd be all in.

A friend of mine has one. It was a 36B valve section and a lot of modification was done because it really can't fit on a 16 bell.

I think the factory made that model as a custom order at one time. The bends would have to be tighter than they are on a 36/42 section.

Yep, I'm not sure about that 'm' but my main horn has always been a Bach 16 slide trombone with an additional valve section. It all came in a case designed to hold the two:

I have never played a better horn, either before or since acquiring it!

To tell the truth, I found it awkward to swap the slide for the valve section on a gig, so I purchased an extra bell section from dj.

Pity - the pictures aren't working. I'd love to see that.

Oh - Grah, we're talking about a 16 with an F-attachment, not a valve trombone. But I do see the picture now.

Oh, I see. Not a fan of F-attachments myself!

I guess this would be Back's answer to the King 3B with F.

A friend of mine has a New York 16B. 16 with an F attachment from the factory. He’s had it since the 50’s, his parents bought it used. Strange setup. Haven’t had a chance to play it.
