Alto trombone MP
Make offer please.
This is an oddity. Much smaller than normal.
Sold by John Cather a brass player from CA.
The theory is rather that a MP similar to the tenor trombone, it is more proportional to a size between trombone and trumpet. The smaller size could help with range.
I used it for a month. It is not my style. If you like the idea of a smaller MP like the alto or tenor horn has, this might be a good thing. I think it is still larger than an alto or tenor horn. I got this after I played a German band gig on an alto or tenor horn. Figured out how to play the horn and read the charts in less then 10 min, then played a 2 hour gig. It was fun. So I found this MP online and I tried this MP for my alto trombone.
The MP is a John Cather 22C
The inside cup is 22 mm or 0.866 in
The outside rim measures ~1.38 in
The backbore I found to be between two drill sizes from my drill index box. 0.190 in is smaller and 0.210 is too big. The backbore is probably ~0.200 in
I paid about $200 a little over 10 years ago for this MP. Not worth $200.
Please just make an offer and imagine yourself as a screech alto trombonist.
The condition is as new and it has been stored in the original box all this time.
I can email pics if wished for.
