This is a Bach LT16M. According to the serial number, 51XXX, it was made between 1981-1983 (Bach). Being an early 80s horn, the bell is just stamped 16 and the slide is stamped 16M. Here is a discussion on the 16 and and iterations of the 16M from different eras:

Overall, this trombone is in very good condition. Mechanically it is excellent. The slide is easily 9/10 dry. I took it to the Slide Doctor, in person. He saw no reason to service it. There is no stocking wear. There are no dents that I can see. There are a few dings on the slide crook—typical—which seems to have no effect on playability. The lacquer is about 80% present with a good bit of loss on the bill section and the hand grip as typical wear. Again, it’s been well used, but it’s in good shape. It was owned by a pro player before I acquired it. I’ve done some light gigging with it.
This is a good example of a 16 M from a good Bach era. It’s very responsive as you would expect from small to medium bore. The .509 bore, to me, gives a consistent sound throughout the registers. The higher range is really good, although I’m not really a lead player. The lower end of the range is very open. I find that the 16M is very versatile. It’s very nice on first in a concert band. A lot of guys like these for salsa. Pop or Ska comes to mind as a good use. I have used it for 1st and 2nd on light orchestra, or early, repertoire. It’s passible on Tuba Mirum and pretty decent for Bolero, depending on your tastes. I think it’s obvious it is at home in any jazz ensemble or big band: Lead is doable; 2nd is excellent; For me, it’s perfect for the 3rd book. Especially, when you have to dig in with the bass ‘bone and Bari sax. It goes without saying—but I’ll say it anyway—that it is a champ for ballads.
My asking price is $1100, or best offer. Included in the sale is a decent Yamaha French style case, in good condition. It’s structurally sound; All the latches work; It’ll get you to-and-fro. Shipping is included in the continental United States. At this time, NO International sales. I’m pretty adamant about PayPal goods and services. I will cover those fees as well. Thanks for looking!
