Does anyone know what the bore size is on this King valve trombone, made about 1912? I own a horn exactly like this one (grabbed this random photo from Etsy, where this one had been sold). I like my horn a lot, but am wondering how a larger bore size might change my sound on valve trombone. I also play slide, but like to do both. I played a 3B valve bone years ago, but can’t remember much about it. When I switch from my large bore horn to the King, it feels like playing trumpet with a big mouthpiece <EMOJI seq="1f60a" tseq="1f60a">😊</EMOJI>

I found the answer, after some digging. The bore is .461.

I have an old Blesing trumpet with a 0.470 bore.

It’s definitely small! Unique sound.

The current King 2166 has a .481 bore, like a 2b.
