1919 Buescher Grand 37 information

Hi everyone- it’s been a while since I’ve posted on here!
I was just gifted a 1919 Buescher Grand model 37, made (as near as I can tell) in 1919. Silver, in rough but cleanable shape, friction fit slide, and there’s no slide lock but I think there’s supposed to be. I see threads for one on the lower slide tube. Brass slide stockings. Also, modern small shank mouthpieces don’t fit- they will go in, but not far enough, and it throws the overtones out of whack. The mouthpiece in the case is a King M21, and it’s not happy to be there. I know Doug Elliott could most likely provide me with a mouthpiece with an appropriate shank, but I’m not there yet.
Anyone have experience with these? I have an excellent overhaul shop nearby, I’m going to take it to them for inspection as well, but I know with the wealth of knowledge here there’s probably someone who has insight into this horn. Any help would be appreciated.
Also- I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do a search on this site- when I log in, I can’t find a search bar or link anywhere. Thanks.

It could be that searching is turned off until you've made a few posts. There are other features like that.

There is a topic here on how to search (in Comments and Suggestions). Matt K suggested a way to search using an external agent like Google which really doesn't care about post count.
I have several very old trombones that take a smaller than normal shank (and also several mouthpieces -- they show up on Ebay now and then). Don't expect a reasonably sized mouthpiece with this shank, though. Largest one I have is 12C sized.
At one time a well-used instrument would have the receiver reamed out to take a regular small shank mouthpiece.

I have a couple of similar vintage horns with extra-small receivers. I'll see what I can make for that - seems like maybe it was a relatively standard size at one time.
