What natural mates, if any, will be compatible. I don't have the instrument...yet

What kind of Kanstul .547 slide is it? They used different tenons / receivers on the 1570 and 1588 models. The 1570 has a brass "Bach" style receiver / tenon, and the 1588 has a nickel silver "Conn" style receiver tenon.
They are separate from the cork barrels, so the tenon can be replaced if needed. Also be aware that Kanstul slides are on the short side.

The 1570T I sold a while back did not fit Bach size slides.

Yeah, I have read that Kanstuls/1688 st can have a wanna be 7th position. The seller assures me that 7th is present and has wiggle room...should have the horn in my hands in about a week or so
it is a 1688 st..
Just the slide? Or are you getting the whole horn? I still kinda regret not getting one of those, but I missed my chance. At least I have my 1588, which is fitted with a Brassark / Brad Close brass Elkhart leadpipe.

tbonesullivan: The whole horn....I have an ancient predecessor of the Kanstul 1688 ST, a 1929 Conn 14H, dual bore 525-547 that is one of my favorite horns ever. I saw a quote from Noah Gladstone that he estimated that Kanstul made a total of about 50 of the 1688's.

Love those CR valves. Damn shame that BAC hasn't decided to start making them.

Will do. BTW BAC now recommends Meindlschmidt valves on their custom builds. A custom BAC Bell with F and Meindlschmidt is a very spendy proposition
