Which brand of bass trumpet is used in the Vienna Philharmonic/ Oper? Or other institutions; any advice about good Austrian bass trumpets (in C is of particular interest for me)?
Which brand/brands of trombones? Best stores for brass instruments in or near Vienna? Any tips or advice appreciated! Thank you!

I'm not sure which brand of bass trumpet is used in the VPO, but it's pretty safe to say that one of the most popular brands in Austria is still Schagerl.

No idea regarding bass trumpets, but probably it's one of the more expensive brands (Thein, Alexander, Lätzsch, I certainly miss something...).
Reg trombones:
- If I remember correctly Dietmar Küblböck has at least at some point been playing Thein, but I might be completely mistaken
- At least one if not multiple are playing B&S (Meistersinger?)
- Enzo Turriziani is a Getzen artist and has his own signature model

I believe Schagerl's instrument is more of a "beer hall" bass trumpet than a symphonic-style instrument.

When my orchestra toured Europe, I checked out music stores along the way, wanting to try German/Austrian instruments. I found that there generally wasn't either a big inventory or much in the way of locally made items. Most of the premier instrument makers in that part of the world sell their instruments straight from the factory. A few of them might have dealers outside of the country so people can order and maybe try something without having to travel so far. You might want to contact instrument companies directly. I hear great things about the Thein bass trumpets, by the way.

Lechner, I completely forgot about them! Good advice, Does anyone know anything about or have experience with the Lechner bass trumpets? A quick Internet search indicates that their store is in Bischofshofen, which is not so close to Vienna. Any shops in Vienna that might have Schagerl or Lechner, despite Jim’s comment above that most instrument makers sell from their own shops? Thankful for any advice!

We occasionally had a bass trumpet in a European wind ensemble I played in years back. The sound I liked best was on a Dotzauer.
