I'm looking to buy my first bass trombone. I'm hoping to find something that is:

-Used, but in good condition

-Professional quality

-Independent

-between $1500-$2500

If you are selling something like that, I'm definitely interested. Or if you know where to point me, I'd really appreciate that. If possible, I'd love to find a King 7B/8B, Bach 50B3, Or Benge 290. I would also love a Yamaha or Conn.

Thanks,

-tbonejazzman

Isn’t there a 50B3 for sale on the forum right now?

Isn't that a dependent horn?

Baltimore Brass has a couple things just above your price range:

Bach 50B3

&

Jupiter XO 1240RL-T

They are both just over 3k and look to be in exceptional condition.

If you don't mind looking in a few different places... Brass Exchange has a Yamaha 613G listed for $2100. Might also check the Trombone Marketplace facebook page.

Tbonejazzman ! I have a former student who just contacted me about selling a highly modified Reynolds bass trombone. It is NOT an independent setup, but once you see the mods, I think you might consider it. It has had the side-by-side string valves replaced with a superbly engineered split trigger with mechanical [Mini-Ball] linkage. Action is fast and quiet. Furthermore, the original "E" slide was replaced with a "D" slide. All of the conversion work was done by Dan Oberlogh in Seattle with his signature stamped into the mechanical arms. The Copper-Toned bell is not perfect and has its share of dings [probably from fast mute changes on a softer than usual bell]. It has the main bell brace configured in such a way that it provides a perfect support for your left thumb, very much like a King Duo Gravis of which you may be familiar. It has a great slide and a dark, chunky blow. I should know because I used to own it ! Its a great looking horn to boot ! I can send pics that I still have in my files somewhere if you think you might have an interest. Lemme know ---- Cheers !! Bob
