I've been on a good streak of picking up some really nice horns lately! These two Olds models have been on my radar to add to the collection for a while now. They now join their Recording and Special cousins (both LA era).

A couple of weeks ago I picked up this Radio Model which is darn near impossible to find. It's really in mint condition. The patina is so nice that I hate to polish it... so it'll stay for now. It's a 485/500 dual bore with a 7" bell. No slide lock. Friction fit slide-to-bell section. The slide is fluted and is in really nice shape. I'd give it 8/10 which for this vintage is really good.

Just yesterday this two-toned Studio model came in the mail. I'd seen the silver stem/brass flare combo before, but never brass stem with silver flare. It's an attractive combo in my opinion. I'm torn on whether or not to polish this one. It also sports the 485/500 setup but with a 7.5" bell. Being a little newer it does have a slide lock and threaded attachment. No fluted slide on this one, but it's real nice. I'd rate it 9.5/10 when lubricated.

Great find on both!

I've never seen a Radio before.

Wow, never seen a Radio before, that’s a beautiful find! Always been a fan of that particular two tone bell…
