3b Valve Section

I had this crazy idea last night, which turned into a few questions. Maybe you all can help me out with this one.

1) Can I find a valve section for a 3b separate to a bell? Is this something DJ Kennedy might have?

2) I know 3b slides do a really good job of transferring from bell to bell, but could I purchase any King 3b valve section and will it work with my bell?

3) How much can I expect to pay for that?

This would strictly be for me screwing around, and didn't know if it was an affordable toy I can purchase. And if it was as easy as I thought. Thanks for your input in advance!

1) Yes, they are out there. Don't know if DJ has one.

2) Yes, it should. King sold packages with a bell, slide, and valve section.

3) No idea. My guesstimate would be a few hundred at least, more or less depending on condition/repairs needed.

Erm...

Is the OP speaking of the valve section of a 3B valve trombone or the f-attachment valve section of a 3BF?

Haha, now that I read it with that perspective, the questions make a lot more sense. Mine are indeed from the 3BF not the 3B w/ valve cluster intead of a slide!

Sorry for the confusion. I’m not looking for 3bf valve tubing. I was curious about a valve section for a valve trombone. Not sure what’s that called. “Valve section” is a bit ambiguous given the other options.

Many 3B "valve trombones" were sold with both a slide and a valve section. So, there are some extra valve (or slide) sections floating around. If you are patient, I think you can find one. I have one, for example, without its original bell section. But I plan to keep it for the time being. I think you can expect to pay between $400 and $1000, depending on condition.

Damn! That’s the price of a 3b!!! I didn’t realize the valve section would/could be so expensive. I don’t want to screw around THAT much :-)

Find me a playable 3B for $400, and I'll buy it.

I was referring to the higher end. But I have found a couple of 3b's on eBay and Reverb for $300-400. The sellers didn't know what they had.

I found a guy three hours away who had a 3B for $50. I just didn't want to make the drive...
