Shires Bollinger Slide Question

Greetings Chatters,

I decided to give my slide a bath this weekend, and as I started to unscrew the lead pipe, the 'tone-enhancing mouthpipe collar' moved slightly, and I realized it was able to come completely off.

Does anyone know if this is normal? My initial reaction was a bit shocked as I assumed the collar was soldered directly to the receiver. For those that have owned this slide, or the Bollinger horn as a whole, is this normal? This is the first time that the collar has moved at all, and before I make a warranty claim I want to make sure this isn't supposed to happen.

It's designed that way. You might like it better without it!

Thank you! Do you know if they put any glue/adhesive in there? I'm just surprised It hasn't moved at all.

No, it’s held in place by friction. They sell the piece separately as well. I have one for my non Bollinger slide.
