Teflon coated slide?

I was wondering if this has ever been tried. Teflon, or the more modern version of it that is used for non-stick cookware, as a coating on the inner slide in place of chrome plating?
Everytime I see a commercial for pans with a surface that will allow even the worst baked-on food to just 'slide' off and stand up to abuse without so much as a scratch, I imagine a trombone slide that is lightning-fast and equally durable.
Has it been tried, and what were the results?
(And let the jokes begin over what to use as lube.)

Willson tried titanium nitride at one time.
For teflon and similar coatings, I would think you'd run into trouble with wear; there's a reason you don't use metal utensils on teflon pans.
