I live in a large city (Toronto) so you would think that I would be able to find a teacher, however, that has not been the case.

Can you folks recommend someone who does weekly or every other week lessons?

Thanks

Whom have your contacted?

It would be worth checking with Gordon Wolfe at the RCM and the trombone faculty at U Toronto to see if any of their grad students who offer private lessons.

Also, check with the Toronto Musicians' Association, the Scarborough Philharmonic, the Salvation Army Canadian Staff Band, Scarborough Citadel, and East Toronto Citadel, to inquire if any of their trombone-playing members give lessons.

He's PaulTdot here. I'd recommend him. The OP could reach him on Facebook if interested.

A couple other trombonists in TO that I know of: William Carn, Kelsley Grant, Karl Silveira, Christian Overton, Charlotte McAfee-Brunner, and Paul Tarussov, who others have mentioned. I have only heard of Kelsley, Karl, and Paul, but I've met William, Christian and Charlotte. In fact I travelled to Toronto about two weeks ago to have a lesson with William and see him play a gig. I think all those cats lean towards the jazz side, but whatever you're looking for I'm sure they can help you out.

Vanessa Fralick is one of the main faculty at UofT, and associate principal at the TSO. She might recommend a grad student or former student or colleague.
