Hi everyone, new to the forums. I was hoping somebody had a recommendation for a good trombone tech in the Austin, Tx area.

I use Travis at Better Than New Band Repair. There’s another shop in Liberty Hill (can’t remember the name) that some friends have gone to, but I don’t have the best experience with their work on some of my student’s horns.

I know that most of the pros in Austin… come to Houston for repairs.

Ah. I should have mentioned that this isn't just for repair. It's also to build an MK slide overhaul kit and also make the horn modular (i.e. detachable bell, counterweight, etc.)

Dont go to the guy in Liberty hill. He has no idea what he's doing. I've sent things off and on to him for the past 15 years. Bad work every time.

Travis is the only person I let touch my horn other than the Edwards Factory.

For custom work I would look up Eric Edwards in Dallas (I think he's on this forum), or Houghton Horns. I wouldn't trust anyone in this area to properly do something that advanced or custom.

I think this is the final warning i needed. I'll have to go out of city. Thanks so much for your input!
