Wasn’t sure where to post this. Patient with essential tremor plays trombone during brain surgery. I’m told this link will be good for maybe 30 days. Photo can be enlarged, and the is a link to a video in the article.

It worked for me. But now it doesn't. I guess something changed.

So sorry - it worked earlier tonight in the email that was sent to me, but doesn’t now when I go to the email.
From memory;
Surgery took place at University of Wisconsin - Madison. 65 year old patient had developed essential tremor and meds were no longer helping. During ‘awake’ deep brain stimulation he held his trombone in playing position and moved the slide back and forth. He was told not to play the horn because of vessel pressure. Surgeon was able to see reduction in tremor and surgery has so far been considered successful. The video was about 10-20 seconds long and showed him moving slide from 1 to 4 to 6 several times with surgeons noting reduction of tremor as they stimulated. I think one of them asked him a question, but video ended before he replied.

I guess it's not unprecedented.
A man needed a brain tumor removed. He played the sax during surgery.

After reading, my wife said “Now I have to worry about you bursting that vein in your head?!”
