Anyone else playing a Conn 4H? What mouthpiece have you found which really opens it up?

I played a 24h for a while which seemed to like a DE XT C2.

There is a YouTube submission called 1936 Conn 4H Test that Andrew Williams says he probably played on an 18C. The sound is not off of a cellphone and could include some processing. It is still worth listening to and worthy of consideration.

I have a 24H and I used the LT100-102/C+/D3 combo that I purchased for the 32H I had for a while.

I mostly use a Stork T3. Used to use a Bach 12c.

Have you tried a Conn 3? Works great with my 1936 Conn 30H "Burkle."

I’ve tried all the small shank mouthpieces I have. The Conn 3 was ok, but the Bach 15CW was the best. Great compact centered sound.

The only problem I’m having is going back and forth between that very small Bach piece and my big 1 1/2 G Marcinkowtz on my bass bone.

My mentor played with a 15(?) on an LT6. And probably everything else he played in his career. Switching between 0.485 and bass trombone was more challenging than anything else that was 0.500 and larger. I played both every day and eventually was switching both ways, on the same day. I felt like I had to relearn how to fill the smaller bore horns. Smaller bore horns are more like threading a needle. If I blow “at” the smaller bore, the thread bends over instead of passing through the eyelet. It will come.
