New user can't register

Hey all (and esp mods)
A pal is trying to register, but can't because his email address is in use. However, when he tries to do a password reset he doesn't get an email (yes, he has checked his spam).
What's the best way to resolve this?

If you can have them email me directly (email is in the contact bubble), I'll handle it.

Matt - are you still able to assist with issues like this? I have a similar issue with my original account on my Gmail - this one is registered with an ancient Yahoo address that I don't really use. I have a Twitter account that I don't really use either, so I can try to follow / contact you there if you don't mind. Thank you!
