Crossposted from the tuba forums, thought this might be of interest to some of you here:

This is a Yamaha 621 F tuba (YFB-621) clone made by Jin Bao. I have owned this tuba since April 2023 as the first owner. There is no maker's mark of any kind on the tuba, but I bought it directly from a wholesaler in China.

I have had my repairman patch two odd holes in the piston porting, and since that it has played very well. If I were keeping it, I would put lighter springs in and vent the valves. Have used it on numerous standing gigs and small ensembles. It is a very small tuba with a bell that is about 14".

Intonation is good but requires a couple common alternates. I use 1+3 for both Gs on the staff, 3 instead of 1+2 for fourth and third partial notes, and 1+2 for high A.

Low register is surprisingly easy for a tuba of this size, and the overall sound is very, very punchy.

Cosmetically, it has some belt buckle scratches on the bottom bow from standing gigs and a few small dents on the bottom bow which I can have addressed prior to sale. There is some hazy lacquer on the main tuning slide. All slides and valves move very well.

This is a fun horn, I am just looking for something a bit different. Asking $2,150, includes the hard zippered case with sturdy nylon exterior. Located in southeastern CT but continental USA shipping can be arranged at buyer's expense and sole responsibility once it leaves my hands.
