it's a device to train using less pressure to play. There was a similar one for trumpet I think.

Yes! I was subbing on a show that he was on and he explained the whole thing to me. Very interesting and he had the technique perfected.

Question. If that picture is to scale wouldn't the instrument play about a full step flat? LOL

Wouldn't you really need to increase the pressure to bring that thing up to pitch? <EMOJI seq="1f602" tseq="1f602">😂</EMOJI>

Seems like the wrong approach. In my limited experience, "too much pressure" is a symptom of something else. Reducing the pressure without first fixing the root cause just stops the music.

These things are not new, I think I have seen them (online, never in real life!) many years ago, e.g. <LINK_TEXT text="https://www.thomann.de/de/arnolds_sons_ ... ss_trb.htm">https://www.thomann.de/de/arnolds_sons_method_prac._adapter_bass_trb.htm</LINK_TEXT>
Nice intention, but I think very impractical, as others mentioned as well.
Generally speaking, reducing pressure as a targeted exercise can certainly be helpful.
