I posted this on the tuba/euph forums, but I wanted to post it here as well in case someone can help.
I am working on learning to play tuba for the first time, and I have discovered that a Yamaha 65 fits me and my tuba (Mahillon 390) pretty well. The one which I was trying out is pretty chewed up, so I bought a new one. The older version (left) is just over an ounce heavier than the new version (right).
I actually prefer the way that the older/heavier version both plays and sounds, by far. So, I would like to acquire one in better condition.
Would anyone happen to have a Yamaha 65 in the old-style blank which they would sell? If so, please let me know.
I realize that this 65 is pretty small in the tuba world and that it's probably mostly for beginners/students. Well...that's kind of what I am right now. The smaller diameter isn't such a struggle for me and the smaller cup & throat actually seem to match quite well with the very small bore tuba I have (.625)
