Which brand and model of mouthpiece should I choose for Thein Belcanto-TY Trombone?

I have tried using Bach and Denis Wick mouthpiece, but the results were not satisfactory. :frown: :frown:

Thein…. At least for me only thing that works on my Thein basstrombone is a Thein mouthpiece. Maybe there is a leadpipe that works with other brand mouthpieces??

Shank taper and lenght is different, probably some other things as well!

This is very true, both DE and Greg Black pieces drop in at least a quarter inch further than they do on “regular” leadpipes. I’ve had the most luck with a GB 4.5G with the .277”/#1 backbore on my universal I tenor with S1L leadpipe. I have a Thein piece on order right now.

The rate of taper on a Thein is not any different than normal. The slightly larger size is accommodated by a slight longer shank on Thein mouthpieces. But some American horns have a similar receiver and it's not a problem.

The belcanto should be a pretty American style horn- I'd try some more normal stuff.

Try any brand that interests you. Many will have something you like.

It doesn't matter how far the mouthpiece goes into the leadpipe. What matters is what happens after the end of the mouthpiece shank. The only way you will know what plays the way you want is to try it for yourself
