Marcinckiewicz Concert Hall Mp question

H all, I have a quick question about Marcinkiewicz Concert Hall mps-- the ones with the extra ridges on the outside of the cup.

I've been playing Marc mps for years, playing them on my small bore, large bore and bass, although I've never found one that works well on my euphonium. Overall, I've been very pleased with the results.

My question is for those who have tried the Concert Hall line. Have you noticed significant difference between the standard Marc mps and the Concert Hall line?

Thanks.

I’ve played almost exclusively on Marcinckiewicz mouthpieces for 20ish years. Probably because I live so close to the factory and was introduced to them in high school. I also play primarily small bore trombone. I have a couple of the concert hall mp and have tried quite a few over the years. I would say it adds more “stability” to the sound and makes the notes a little easier to slot on my Getzen 1050 and my Williams model 4. They are a little more work to play in my opinion which is a bit contrary to the goal of playing these small bore horns. I only use the concert hall on my large bore regularly. But if you have a size of Marc that you love already, trying it in concert hall could add something to your sound. If you are speculating and don’t know which one you love yet, I would skip the extra cost in case you don’t love it. Hope this helps my 2cents.

Thanks, that's very helpful. I play an 8H with standard-- not symphonic-- shank on my Conn 48H and it works very well. I play a 4 on my large bore and a GR-- now renamed 1 1/2G-- on my single trigger bass (occasionally using a 3 if my chops are not in bass bone shape). Sounds like if I ever find a good used 3 or 4 in concert version it might be worth picking up if the price is right.

If I ever pick up a medium bore, I'm thinking a Marc 5G in Concert version might be a good mp.

Until this past December I pretty much played exclusively on Marcinkiewicz mouthpieces for the better part of 40 plus years. Played a 1 on my Bass and had a 1 Concert Hall made for me since it is not a standard in stock mouthpiece. I found that it felt different and maybe played a little bigger with a more centered sound but I don't think anyone on the audience side of the horn really heard anything different and I don't think it sounded that much different when I recorded myself. I think it was more feel than actual output. At least these are my thoughts.
