Hello all! I’m writing this as a friend is selling a Rath R400 and I could’ve sworn that the 00 series had rotax valves on their horns but I’m not 100% sure and I can’t find anything to give me a solid answer. If it isn’t a rotax valve what valve would it be because the valve on the 00 series looks very similar to the rotax valve on the custom series.

I would wager that it is an in house made valve that is modeled after the Rotax valve. I can find no information stating that the R400 trombones ever had Rotax valves on them.

I had always assumed it was just an in-house rotor.

Not a rotax. A valve made in China for that horn. Standard rotor.

Rath's in-house rotor is on the R6, and manufactured "just up the road" by Gleve Engineering (comment on [url=https://fb.com/4091894497492970]Facebook photo, 11 November 2020).
