Before anyone grills me about ruining a classic horn, please understand this was about form and function. The closed wrap had a terrible design and it was cutting the knuckle of my thumb. You have to snake your thumb between the rotor and the brace.

I sent the horn out to Heritage Music and Kevin did an amazing job with it.

No criticism here: those Olds/Reynolds instruments had pretty dodgy linkages. The tech did a masterful job--it is clear that the bell brace was moved back an inch and a half or so, but it doesn't show at all.

But the proof of the pudding is in the playing. How is it as a medium bore tenor with F?

Now that is downright beautiful…but as others have said…how’s it sound?

It's your horn, you can do whatever you want with it. People love to whine about modding old horns, but they're just trombones, not priceless artifacts.

Looks great by the way!

That old linkage looks excessively dodgy, even for a Reynolds; as if someone tried to "fix" the geometry and ended up making it worse.

Absolutely. It looks like it's always been that way. 100 years from now, some amateur Reynolds historian is going to be very confused.

I hope I can get time this weekend. Too bad work gets in the way of things!
