Anyone recognize the mute model? Barney Liddell, Welk show '74.

Doesn't look exactly like one, but it sounds like a Solotone to me

Notice his 1st position is more than an inch out. Plenty of room for vibrato in 1st.

I've seen that mute before but I don't know what it is.

Mel-o-wah was first thought as he played a Ray Robinson but his and they have black on the side as shown here in duet with Dick Dale. Beautiful duet by the way. Barney played 34 years with Welk starting in '48 until the show's end in '82 and enjoy his mute solos.
