Marching Music-Phone

Youngs out there… I see a lot of folks using a quick phone clamp to view marching music on a phone rather than a bell clamp lyre or folio for reading paper music.

Help an old out, what do you use for the clamp?

BUT, I’d like to hear from somebody that has used something like this and know that it works. For old vs young eyes, I was planning on using forescore and if necessary do a bunch of half page turns so that I can read it. This particular mount also has a tablet holder… I may be tempted depending on what charts we end up with.

I'm not exactly young but I wouldn't strap my phone to my bell and try to read microscopic music off of it

I've always wanted to have something like that, but I've envisioned having a rod that attaches to both the lower and upper bel brace that would be secured by soldering maybe two loops for the rod to go through. Then there could be clips or something to keep the rod in place. That way, the lyre would be attached with two structural points. Mounting it to the bell like pictured makes me uncomfortable :horror:

If you are using AR you can see what is around you as you read the music.

The tech is there but my wallet is not ready.

That tech ain't it man lool. Augmented reality is the opposite of what a parade is supposed to be.

Looks like that would solve the problem of avoiding what the horses have left. You can see (and nobody can tell what you're staring at!) and still read music. When I marched parades more often I had to memorize.

On the other hand. We come to the trio where the trombones have the melody, and..............the advertisement pops up.

To be clear, I’m looking for a $30 solution that can be implemented in a week or so.

VR/AR isn’t going to be it.

If you throw a Pop Socket (or other similar grip) on the back of your phone, it fits well into a standard lyre without any additional attachment device needed.
