24h tuning slide replacement

I'm looking for a replacement for a 24h tuning slide. Does anyone know which other models are compatible? Or better yet, where can I find a spare? Hopefully silver plate, but anything will do.

My 4h tuning slide fits my 24h. a little bit tightly but it fits and moves.

Ok, thanks, I figured a 4h was a probable match. How about something like a 16h or 23h?

Nearly all of the Conn small bore trombones use the same tuning slide, with some minor variations. A 6H tuning slide assembly should work, and those are available new-old-stock through Allied. A repair shop should be able to order the part for you.

In fact, I believe I have one or two available currently - email the shop at ORDERS AT OMALLEYHORNS.COM

I am pretty sure this is not correct. The 24h from my knowledge has a reverse tuning slide (as again from my knowledge the 4h, 6h and 48h and potentially others). Those are what you could call the professional smallbores. The student models do NOT have a reverse tuning slide afaik, so they will definitely not fit.

Also I would at least suspect that the 6h/48h tuning slides are larger. But could be wrong here.

I have 24h, 6h and 48h here, and the 6h barely fits - it doesn't push down onto the legs. It's close. I also bought a 22h slide, and it definitely doesn't work.

a 12h tuning slide should also work as it's just a 4h with coprion bell

Just curious.

It's because of distance between legs or diameter of leg/legs?

Did you try to fit them one by one?

Its the center to center distance. Leg dia appears to be ok.

So, tuning slide is "wider"...

By the way, could you provide me OD of the bell leg (of course if you've measured it)?

One of my friends is thinking about Franken-bone project but hasn't access to 6H right now.

How much wider is the span? Can you post a picture of bell section with the 6H tuning slide? Might be helpful to figure out the appropriate part.

@UAtrombone: Not sure what you mean by "bell leg". The OD of bell side female slide of the 24h is somewhere around 0.800". It varies because mine is out of round, being about 100 years old.

@Blabberbucket: The centerline difference is in the range of 0.075". The 24h slide is wider than the 6h, just to be clear. The individual legs do fit, but the CtoC distance does not. It's close, but not close enough. This image is a 6h bell section with a mangled 24h slide. The 24h slide fits the 24h bell section well enough.

I meant male part of tuning slide which inserts in the bell female part.

The OD of the male tube on the top (bell) side of the 24h tuning slide is ~.755", again kind of out-of-round.

Considering the way many factories assemble components like tuning slides, I'm not at all surprised they're a different width.

I can add that I've had a couple of Gen. 2 88H's with same tuning slides problem (about 1,5-2 mm. difference in width).
