I am looking for an alto trombone mouthpiece.... have a 12c but that still seems a little deep of a cup for the sound I’m looking for... any alto mouthpieces out there for sale?

Thanks.

For alto playing, "smaller" isn't always better. Alto is a fine little beast to tame. It takes a bit of experimentation until you find a piece that works for you, and for the alto model you play. On my 36H I started off with a 7C, Lindbergh 15CL, and have settled on a Giardinelli 4D with a narrow rim. One thing to keep in mind is the sound. It shouldn't sound like a small bore tenor unless that is your intention.

If you're interested in some inexpensive pieces to start with, PM me.

When I played alto, I used the Lindbergh 15. I thought it gave a good alto sound.

If you’re US, I’ll send you a 15CL for the cost of shipping. Great alto mp, but I got out of the alto business.

Thanks for the thoughts!

My intention is to find an alto mpc that makes me sound like a trumpet, not a trombone. I feel like the depth of all the trombone cups i have used, even 12c, are too deep and give me the heft of a trombone sound, and I don’t want that on alto.

Bach originally considered the 12EW as their "alto mouthpiece". It's considerably shallower than a 12C, but the same rim size.
