Martin with an identity crisis

I obtained a Martin, but I'm a little confused about the model designation. From what I gather, there was a Martin Imperial that was superseded by the Martin Committee. This horn has both Imperial and Committee engraved on the bell. Sites with serial numbers are all over the place, but I believe this to be circa 1939 manufacture which (I think) was the year the Committee was introduced. I did see a reference to an "Imperial Committee" dated 1939 on the brasshistory.net site.
So...is it an Imperial...or is it a Committee? Orrrr...did they engrave with both at the introduction of the Committee as a transitional/marketing idea?
This inquiring mind wants to know...
