I was wondering if anyone here has any knowledge on this question.

"I wonder who's playing trombone at the track AQUA DE BEBER on Sergio's debut A&M record HAP?"

It's sort of a distinctive style but not anybody I'm familiar with. Maybe Dana knows.

Guessing it's Edson Maciel, particularly if the album was recorded in Brazil. Maciel teamed with Raul da Silva on valve trombone and a tenor sax player for a punchy '67 Sergio Mendes album called "The Beat of Brazil," and IIRC, also played some gorgeous obligatos on one of Milton Nascimento's "Clube da Esquina" albums. Sadly, immediate reacquaintance with my Vinyl collection is not possible, and it's been years sine I've heard that Mendes album, but there you have it... For the record, Mendes used Bill Watrous for some melody playing on one of his 1980's/90's albums, which sounded great. Further for the record, Raul da Silva is one of my all-time favorite trombonists, on slide and on valves.

Fidbone was merely correcting the possible trombonist's name - not Raul da Silva, but one of Sergio Mendes's favorite trombonists, Raul de Souza.
